1 Mill Street began with co-founders Nigel and Dessie Shanahan’s vision to bring people together, help them thrive, and have fun doing it. In 2018, after selling their first business, they spotted a charming red-brick building near Jephson Gardens—formerly Urquhart Hall—and saw its potential as a community hub.
They transformed it into 1 Mill Street and launched Make Good Grow, a vibrant space for freelancers, creatives, and startups to connect and collaborate. More than just a workspace, it’s a place where ideas flourish and community thrives.
Supported by passionate members, the space also gives back through partnerships with local charities. What started as a walk in the park became a dynamic hub full of purpose, creativity, and good vibes.
